New licence for Cable and Wireless?

by isleofman.com 18th October 2007
The Communications Commission is considering broadening the licence of Cable and Wireless.

It was first granted in May last year but limited the company to providing mobile phone services.

Under the proposed new licence, the company could provide telecommunications services of any description within the Island.

But the changes won’t mean the firm can dig up roads or lay cables across land.

The Commission says the licence’s current limitation are no longer required, expedient or appropriate.

Representations or objections about the new licence must be made in writing before November 30.
