Danny Boy sinks Vikings

by isleofman.com 16th October 2007
Ramsey cruised into the semi final of the Dorchester Atlantic Marine Manx Cup with a 67-9 win away at Western Vikings.

Centre Danny Turner picked up four tries as the Manx Shield holders romped home against a plucky Vikings side.

It took the northerners nearly quarter of an hour to break through the Vikings defence with Garry Vernon making the first incision from full back.

Anuerin Pritchard quickly grabbed a second and, when Turner picked up the first of his hatful on 20 minutes, the game looked all but over.

Ed Alderson kicked Vikings a couple pf penalties to claw back some of the lead but tries late on the first half from Henry Doran and Turner gave Ramsey a 31-3 lead at the break.

Vikings really needed an early score in the second half to give them any hope at all and this was quickly killed off by Ramsey flanker Andy Wilson who scored under the posts to effectively kill the game off.

Further tries from Peter Wilson, Myles Ellis, Turner (two) and Andy Gale all came in quick succession as Vikings tired.

Shaun Wyllie kicked six conversions for Ramsey in a fine personal performance on a day when distribution was the key.

In the Dorchester Atlantic Marine Manx Plate, Vagabonds B and Douglas B moved into the semi finals.

Vagabonds beat Ramsey B 41-3 at Glencrutchery Road to make them favourites to take the plate.

At King Williams College, a much improved Emerging Nomads defended hard but still lost out 40-0 to Douglas B.

Seb Jeanneau, Phil Garrett, Mark Shaw, Lloyd Jones and Bobby Ranscombe all picked up tries for Douglas.
