Cable and Wireless look to expand license

by isleofman.com 16th October 2007
Cable and Wireless says it wants its present license modified. They say this would result in " better value landlines, business line and broadband services in future".
If granted, (and its been handed in to the Communications Commission), it would allow a full range of services across fixed and mobile telecommunications but would not allow them to dig up roads in order to lay cables.

Manx Telecom has responded by saying " there is already sufficient competition in the Isle of Man in the fixed line telecommunications market from both indigenous companies and UK and Isle of man based internet service providers.
MT goes on to say "they are and will be committed to make significant investment in the Isle of Man and in the next two years along, this will exceed ?25m".
