Higgins handed title lifeline

by isleofman.com 3rd November 2007
Manx rally driver Mark Higgins could still win the Production Car World Rally Championship after being promoted to fifth place following post race scrutineering at Rally Japan.

Armindo Araujo was excluded from second place, which bumps Higgins up from sixth to fifth taking his tally to 19 points, 20 less than current leader Toshi Arai.

While Arai has taken in all six of his nominated events this season, Mark still has two to go and if he can win in Rally Ireland and Rally GB the Manxman would come out top.

Higgins was competing in Japan despite a fractured collarbone after crashing his motorbike prior to the event.
