Director welcomes home care proposal

by isleofman.com 31st October 2007
The Isle of Man's Director of Social Services is welcoming a local charity's plans to provide a home care service.

Andrew Swithinbank (pictured) says the DHSS already works closely with Age Concern, and the proposal could further enhance the relationship.

He says Age Concern is in an ideal position to provide home care (audio file attached):

Mr Swithinbank has also been defending his department's price rise for home care services from ?9.50 to ?15 an hour.

He says for the vast majority of people the service is still free, with the increase only applying to those who pay privately.
