WellGen funding agreed

A Manx company has become the lead investor in a biotech company which is hoping to produce eat-yourself-thin foods.

Amphion Innovations has agreed a deal with American firm WellGen which has now received around ?5 million in financing.

WellGen says the cash will be used to develop its line of nutraceuticals products, including an anti-obesity ingredient for use in functional foods.

It now plans to launch a human study of the ingredient’s effectiveness.
