Increase in gas prices

Gas prices in the Isle of Man are going up, from November 12.

Manx Gas says it's paying record prices for oil, and those costs will be reflected in the sums paid by customers for natural gas and LPG.

Natural gas is going up by 3.9%, but is still 13.1% lower than before April this year, when the Island's provider bought ahead and was able to drop the cost to the consumer.

LPG customers will be hit harder as it isn't possible to buy the product in advance, so the fuel cost adjustment will be increased by 0.221p per unit.

Manx Gas Chief Executive Alan Bates (pictured) says the different availability of the two fuels has caused the company to consider converting more parts of the Island to natural gas:
