Prison 'tax credit scandal'

A Douglas MHK says it's a scandal in-mates at the Isle of Man's prison are being given tax credits while they serve time.

An apparent loophole has been exposed by South Douglas member Bill Malarkey, who says the practice must stop, as prisoners are already being paid-for by the taxpayer.

Rebates are routinely paid by the Inland Revenue to tax-payers who have already made a down-payment for the following year, but have had to stop working.

But Mr Malarkey (pictured), who will raise the issue in the House of Keys tomorrow, says it's ludicrous to include prisoners:
