CWU predicts further pension problems

The union official behind the 'no confidence' petition from Isle of Man postal workers is claiming more far-reaching changes to the pension scheme are on the way.

Terry Pullinger is National Officer at the Communication Workers Union, with responsibility for the Island.

Last week he sent the petition to members of the House of Keys, declaring a total lack of confidence in Post Office Chairman Pam Crowe and the board.

It was signed by around 200 Island postal workers who are unhappy at plans to close the scheme to new employees and, they say, a lack of consultation.

Mr Pullinger (pictured) says the pension scheme is clearly in trouble and he fears more drastic changes may be needed (audio file attached):
