Minister's warning to employers

Hiring foreign builders from off-Island at less than the going rate? Not on my watch, says Trade and Industry Minister David Cretney.

In the House of Keys today he faced questions from Onchan MHK Peter Karran about whether the work permit committee took wages into account when issuing permits.

In response, Mr Cretney (pictured) said that was the case and if a company was employing staff at less than the going Manx rate, the permit would be refused.

He also invited people to let him know if Manx workers were being undercut:
