Councillor dismisses ministerial 'dig'

When Treasury Minister Allan Bell criticised the state of Douglas town centre recently, it was a safe bet some of the town's leaders were going to be annoyed!

On Manx Radio's Agenda programme last night member of the Corporation's Leisure Services Committee Jim Mitchell (pictured) had his say.

He said the town had smartened itself up hugely over the past two decades and Mr Bell's comments were in direct contrast to the views of the Britain in Bloom judges, who gave Douglas their silver award this year.

Councillor Mitchell accused Mr Bell of having a dig at the Island's capital for the sake of it (audio file attached):
