Hop tu Naa and bonfire incidents

by isleofman.com 7th November 2007
The Hop tu Naa and Bonfire night period was comparable to last year in terms of anti-social behaviour.

The Department of Home Affairs is praising the work of joint rapid response patrols of fire and police officers in keeping incidents to a minimum.

Statistics released by the department show a slight rise in some incidents and a decline in others.

A total of 29 complaints about fireworks were received between October 28 and Monday, five fewer than the same period last year.

But reports of anti-social behaviour on Hop tu Naa night went up marginally by three, to 21.

The Eastern Neighbourhood Policing Team recorded 13 incidents across their area of Pulrose, Anagh Coar, Willaston, Tromode, Braddan and Laxey, most of which were for throwing fireworks or eggs and flour.

In one case a postbox in Cronkbourne was damaged and in another a dog bin on Laxey Promenade was blown off its post.
