Farmhill Manor campaign gains support

by isleofman.com 9th November 2007
An Island-wide campaign to save an eighteenth century house in Douglas has gained the support of more than fifteen hundred people.

Farmhill Manor was converted in the 18th century from a Manx farmhouse dating back to 1430.

However, its owner, Heritage Homes, is attempting to have it removed from the protected buildings register in order to redevelop it and has lodged an appeal after the initial request was turned down.

South Douglas MHK, Bill Malarkey (pictured) accused the developer of lacking ‘a conscience or morals’ over the issue, and called on the public to help save the building.

He started a petition which he says he will take to Tynwald to ensure the matter is investigated further.
