Microgaming Hospital Trust has celebrated its 5th birthday with the launch of a new initiative to promote the training and provision of life-saving automatic external defibrillators (AED) across the Island’s private sector.
Microgaming, the world’s largest gaming software provider, has donated more than ?500,000 to the Microgaming Hospital Trust to put towards supporting local charities and hospital services since its inception in 2002.
Chairman of the Microgaming Hospital Trust Dr Roy Clague says they wanted to do something special to celebrate the birthday, by launching a life-saving initiative. He said: 'The provision of AEDs is increasing on the Isle of Man and we want to support the Government’s considerable efforts in this area by encouraging private sector involvement.'
He went on: 'The goal is to have defibrillators, and those trained to use them, readily available in commercial offices, banks, shops and factories, across the Island. Many people could be saved if their heart could be defibrillated quickly.'
