Bell rejects two-tier notion

Forty public sector employees in the Isle of Man cost the government in excess of ?100,000 a year, in salaries and other payments.

The figure, which includes employers' national insurance and staff pension contributions, was revealed by Treasury Minister Allan Bell in Tynwald today, in response to a question from Michael MHK David Cannan.

The figure of 40 includes all public sector employees, but not medical doctors or consultants.

But Mr Bell (pictured) rejected a suggestion the elite group had helped create a two tier society:
