Island has new toastmaster

by isleofman.com 19th December 2007
Colin Thompson is the Isle of Man's new toastmaster, taking over from Jim Mitchell.

He is only the third person to take on the role since it was created more than 30 years ago, when the title was held by Laurence Kermode.

Mr Thompson invested in his toastmaster’s uniform, gavel and block after watching Jim Mitchell in action.

He first 'flew solo' last year at one of the Island’s most high profile occasions, the Tynwald Ball at the Villa Marina.

He says that being a toastmaster is all about protocol and decorum, and pronouncing the guests' names correctly!.

Colin Thompson is a technical services manager for Clerical Medical.
