Manx Telecom has been awarded ISO 14001:2004 certification for its Environmental Management System for a further three years.
They point out that few if any Manx companies hold the award.
The certificate was issued by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance and presented to the company by Local Government Minister John Shimmin.
Receiving it were Manx Telecom’s Managing Director Chris Hall, and Estates and Power Manager David Comish ( pictured).
Mr Shimmin said: “I am delighted that Manx Telecom has again received accreditation for their Environmental Management System. Along with a growing number of forward looking local companies, they have chosen to set themselves high standards and have found that all parts of their organisation benefited from the experience.”
He went on to highlight the need for all Isle of Man businesses to assess their policies and procedures in order to contribute in a similar way, commenting: “Government is aiming to work with businesses, voluntary groups and individuals, so that we can all play our part in protecting our wonderful environment. To have such a leading local company setting this example is to be welcomed.”
Manx Telecom’s re-certification involved a rigorous four-day audit of the company’s operations in the Island by LRQA, the leading business assurance company supplying certification services and training to organisations around the world.
