New UN sanctions list

by isleofman.com 14th January 2008
The Financial Supervision Commission has released details of a number of individuals who have fallen foul of United Nations sanctions against Al-Qa'ida and the Taliban.

There is a long list of Somalis, Tunisians, Libyans and Algerians who all live in Italy and have connections to terrorist organisations.

Also named is Sheikh Hersi Al-Turki, a 64 year old Ethiopian who leads the Al-Itihaad Al-Islamiya terrorist group and was involved in attacks on American embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam ten years ago.

Kenyan Sheikh Ahmed Salim – known as Ahmed the Tall – is said to have been involved in the same attacks and is also named.

You can find the full list on the government’s website, www.gov.im and should contact customs and excise if you have any assets belonging to anybody named on the watchlist.
