MEA retail units struggling.

by isleofman.com 27th January 2008
The Manx Electricity Authority has admitted its retail business " has been struggling financially"

It says it became aware of financial problems three years ago when it carried out a review after the departure of Mike Proffitt as Chief Executive.
Its resources were then being directed at "more immediate problems".

Acting Chairman Eddie Lowey says that, historically, the MEA showrooms have not only been retail outlets but a key service element for consumers.
He adds that the Authority are not planning "intemperate action" in reaction to poor sales figures. However, a thorough review is planned though its emphasised that no major action will be taken without referring to the Council of Ministers.
