Border campaign coming to Island

by isleofman.com 12th February 2008
You will have driven past his lorries, and soon he will be in the Isle of Man to meet Chief Minister Tony Brown.

Andrew Tinkler, the Chief Executive of UK haulage firm Eddie Stobart, is to lead a delegation to the Island on February 22 in his campaign to save Border TV.

ITV plans to merge the Border and Tyne Tees region to save money, but critics fear it would lead to a loss of Manx TV news coverage.

Mr Tinkler runs a number of businesses in Cumbria, another area which says it would lose out under the plans.

ITV bosses last week confirmed that the new merged news service would contain at least 12 minutes of Border region news.
