The Department of Trade and Industry is to extend its the Energy Champion programme to the construction and retail sectors.

The announcement has been made at Energy Expo 2008 at the Villa Marina, opened yesterday by the member of the Department of Trade and Industry with responsibility for energy, Juan Turner MLC.

The Manx Energy Forum is a partnership between the DTI and the Chamber of Commerce Manufacturing and Technical Industries Committee and has put together a programme of free energy surveys for businesses in the manufacturing and technical sectors, looking at where savings could be made.

An Energy Champion has been appointed for each business, with access to the DTI’s Business Support Scheme.

The DTI now plans to extend the Energy Champion programme to the construction and retail sectors.
A presentation on the detail of the Energy Champions programme will be made at 10.00am on Friday 22nd February at the DTI’s Energy Expo at the Villa Marina. Admission is free and the Department would especially welcome attendance from people within the retail and construction sectors.
