'Young Driver' safety initiative launched

The Department of Transport's latest road safety initiative is about engaging with the Island's more inexperienced motorists.

Director of Highways Bruce Hannay says Young Driver 2008 aims to educate people about driving techniques and car maintenance, rather than just highlighting the dangers of the road.

The year long campaign is being launched at an event at the Sea Terminal this evening, complete with supercars, live music and stars of the local motorsport scene.

Mr Hannay (pictured) says the evening is also about 16-25 year olds having their say on all things car-related:
