A 16 year-old student has won a competition held at the recent careers conference by naming his dream job.
Kristian Duggan of Castle Rushen High School was in four care placements during his childhood but has now settled happily with his grandmother.
He won ?500 for his school and an iPod Nano for his entry, when he said he wanted to be a social out-reach worker.
Jason Roberts reports (text, below, from attached audio file):
The judges at Hamblin Employment Group said their decision was unanimous.
In his entry, Kristian explained: 'I would choose this calling because for the entirety of my life so far I have been in social care and for nine years I was in residential care. It is these events that led me to think about this vocation. Whilst I was thinking about this career I realised that I could really help teenagers who, like me, are going through a really bad time. It’s family, friends or themselves I believe that I could truly help in that situation.'
