There's a call for a new health fund to be set up - to cover the cost of sending patients off-Island for specialist medical treatment.
Pamela Crowe MLC, member for the DHSS, says the department's budget cannot cope with unexpected and often costly bills for care in UK hospitals.
She says those costs should be met by a special, ring-fenced fund - to help the department's finances stay on an even keel.
