Arcade taking shape

An exciting new arts and entertainment complex is rapidly taking shape behind the hoardings screening the old Arcade on Douglas Prom.

It's being transformed into a 'winter garden' style facility - with its glass roof ensuring a warm venue all year round.

The new Arcade will be home to shops, bars, cafes, a performance space - and of course, the Island's famous Wurlitzer organ.

It's the final part of a scheme to link the Gaiety Theatre with the Villa Marina.

Director of Service Delivery at the Department of Tourism and Leisure Mike Ball says the refurbishment was long overdue:
