Decisive action needed on decay

Decisive action is needed to reverse worrying levels of tooth decay among the Island's young children.

The latest survey shows that more than 50 per cent of under-fives have suffered decay, compared with 38 per cent of the same age group in England.

More people now have an NHS dentist after a drive to attract new practices here, and it's
hoped that will go some way to reducing decay figures.

Retired dentist Heather Oliver, who compiled the report, says preventing decay in the first place is the key
