'Rare' circumstances led to power cut

The Health Minister says it was a very unusual set of circumstances which caused the recent problem with the power supply to Noble's Hospital.

The issue was raised in the House of Keys by North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson, who asked Eddie Teare to make a detailed statement regarding the incident, in which the hospital lost all power for a time.

Electrical relays at the facility cut off the mains power from the Island's network and the hospital's own generator failed to cut in.

Mr Teare (pictured) told the House it was impossible to apportion blame until an independent investigation had been carried out, into exactly what had caused the 'rare' set of circumstances to arise:
