Waiting list cut

by isleofman.com 4th March 2008
An initiative to cut waiting times for NHS opthalmology treatment is paying dividends.

Since it began in December, the number of patients waiting for eye operations has dropped by 50 per cent.

A team based at Ramsey Cottage Hospital is leading the project, which has just treated its 100th patient.

Seventy-four year-old Herbert Crosbie waited 19 months for an operation on one eye and was told he may have to wait another two years for the same treatment on his other one.

But thanks to the initiative, the second operation has now been carried out.
