MHK's wife to contest council seat

The wife of a South Douglas MHK is to stand in next month’s local authority general election.

Carol Malarkey will contest Hill's Ward in Douglas, representing the Liberal Vannin Party.

Mrs Malarkey (pictured) says during her husband's 18 months in office she has noticed how many constituents contact their MHKs for help on local authority related issues.

She also believes it's important for would be members to contest an election, rather than walk in unopposed:
