Tynwald says 'yes' to Lord Street lease

Tynwald has agreed by a comfortable margin to the principle that a 999 year lease be granted to the proposed developer of the bus station site in Lord Street, Douglas.

An amendment, suggesting the debate should be moved to next month's sitting, was defeated by a single vote.

Environment Minister John Shimmin told members no further details would be available by next month, and a vote against his motion might mean the deal falling through.
