Kershaw goes AWOL

by isleofman.com 12th March 2008
Troubled broadcaster Andy Kershaw has left his mother's Rochdale home after a stay of only four days.

Only last week he was spared a further jail sentence for harrassing his former partner Juliette Banner, the mother of his two children, on condition that he voluntarily left the Island and sought professional help.

Stuart Peters reports:

According to a story in the Rochdale Observer, Kershaw's mother Eileen - who was present in court in Douglas last week - said she was "disappointed" he had left so soon. "He seemed to be settling in, but then said he wanted to meet up with some of his old friends," she said.

He left suddenly on Sunday night, and now Mrs Kershaw believes he is in Carlisle. She said the last she saw of her son, he was phoning for a taxi and heading for the train station.

Sparing him a further jail sentence last week, High Bailiff Michael Moyle had said he was giving Kershaw (pictured) ‘one last chance,’ but it was NOT a condition of his release that he live with his mother.
