MER will run this summer

The Manx Electric Railway will be seen in the north of the Island this year!

Tourism chiefs have produced a scheme that will enable the Laxey to Ramsey part of the track to re-open from July – less than a month after it was announced the service would be suspended for the summer season on safety grounds.

Tynwald’s unanimously agreed spending nearly ?5 million on getting it operational for the second half of the season when one of the tracks will operate.

Tourism Minister Adrian Earnshaw (pictured) believes it’s great news after the initial disappointment:
