Norman sentence adjourned

by isleofman.com 13th March 2008
Sentence on a man who made false statements to obtain social security benefits has been adjourned by the High Bailiff.

Steven Lee Marshal of Central Promenade, Douglas, admitted nine offences.

Michelle Norman, prosecuting, said the defendant had been paid job seeker's allowance and income support from 2006 to 2007 but had failed to inform the DHSS that his circumstances had changed and that his wife had been working at times.

As a result the defendant had been overpaid the sum of ?8, 961, which Miss Norman said was still outstanding.

The defendant was warned by Mr Moyle that custody was possible and he was bailed until April 1st.
