4.1% for Whitley Council workers

Whitley Council workers will receive a pay increase of 4.1% this year.

The figure was reached without negotiation as the pay formula was agreed as part of a three year agreement struck last year.

Secretary of the Whitley Council Employees side, Bernard Moffatt, says the increase, which is based on the level of the RPI index, should be in the pay packets of public sector manual workers with immediate effect.

Whilst satisfied with the current state of affairs he stresses that the agreement will be revisited if deemed necessary:
