The agriculture minister says his department is aware of the problem of Japanese Knotweed in the Island's rivers and is keen to work with landowners and other departments to try to eradicate it.
The Manx Rivers Improvement Association says the highly invasive weed is spreading rapidly around water courses and in some places, such as Tromode and East Baldwin, is choking the rivers completely.
The association claims the department isn't doing much to tackle the problem, and says if more isn't done soon it could get out of hand.
