Onchan ratepayers meeting

Onchan ratepayers are being given the opportunity to have their say about a recent rate increase.

The 9% rise will come into effect at the beginning of next month.

The commissioners are holding a public meeting on the subject tomorrow (Thurs).

MHK for the area David Quirk has been vocal in his opposition to the move, and questioned the Local Government Minister on the issue in the House of Keys this week.

He says the people of Onchan have a right to know what's behind the above-inflation rise, although he accepts there could be many reasons:

The meeting is being held tomorrow at 7.30 in the Village Hall.
