Healthy living centre planned

by isleofman.com 19th March 2008
The Chief Executive of Age Concern is appealing to the Isle of Man's local authorities in a bid to find land to build a healthy living centre.

Penny Creighton (pictured) says the proposed facility will interpret in bricks and mortar the charity's commitment to the "inclusion not exclusion" of older people.

The ?1.5 million project will house many facilities, including a day centre, therapy suite, restaurant and gymnasium.

The fund-raising appeal will be officially launched at a spring ball next month to mark Age Concern's 15th anniversary.

Mrs Creighton says the aim is to make later life a fulfilling experience, and believes the centre would be a credit to wherever it's built:
