Bus service call for new GP surgery

An MHK who is against the relocation of a Douglas GP surgery to Braddan hopes a bus service can be provided for patients when the move is completed.

Tynwald last week approved the ?1.2 million construction of a building for the Palatine Group Practice, which is moving from Murray’s Road to improve conditions for staff and patients.

There's been some public opposition to the site, near the new Noble's Hospital, as some people say they will find it difficult to get to the out-of-town location.

The decision was reviewed by the DHSS, but no suitable site could be found in Douglas.

However, East Douglas MHK Phil Braidwood hopes there can still be a form of surgery at Palatine in the future:
