Fireworks warning

by isleofman.com 22nd March 2008
The police have issued a stern reminder of offences regarding fireworks, after they were called out to deal with a homemade one on Good Friday.

Officers found the device in the Drury Terrace area of Douglas when they followed up reports of loud bangs.

Inspector Derek Flint says fireworks made under factory conditions are dangerous enough, but when people are trying to cobble together their own devices, with no expertise, there is a real chance that someone is going to end up badly injured.

He's urging parents to keep an eye on what their children are up to, because the last thing they'd want is a call from the hospital telling them their youngster has lost an eye, or half their hand.
