MHK urges changes to legislation

by isleofman.com 26th March 2008
An MHK says action taken to address the criminal actions of convicted paedophiles and those convicted of downloading internet child pornography are much improved.

But Onchan member Peter Karran (pictured, left) thinks more can be done.

He believes the Department of Home Affairs should consider a distinct separation of the two offences:

Home Affairs Minister Martyn Quayle (pictured, right) says his department is content with the existing legislation and that the police, probation and prison services are working very effectively together to control the situation and will continue to use professional opinion and monitor each case on an individual basis.

He’ll be speaking on Mandate PM this evening.
