The Manx farming community is battling to keep the blue-tongue disease at bay, for a least twelve months.
That will enable supplies of vaccine to be available, should the virus arrive, something that it is now assumed is inevitable.
The Manx National Farmers Union has agreed to a voluntary code restricting imports, something which has been applauded by Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne (pictured).
He says European safeguards in place are not regarded by the Manx as stringent enough:
