Nomads in trophy final

by isleofman.com 29th March 2008
Southern Nomads eased past Ramsey B 22-5 at Mooragh Park on Saturday to clinch a place in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Trophy Final.

Davide Mazzone scored a try for Ramsey B, but Nomads booked their place in the final with tries from James Hammal, Andy Joughin and Tom Chamberlain, who also bagged a penalty and two conversions.

The other semi-final between Vagabonds B and Ramsey was disrupted by heavy rain just before kick-off.

Referee Chris Coole adjudged the pools of standing water to be a player safety hazard and postponed the game.

It will now be played next Saturday, April 5.

In the Shimmin Wilson Manx Bowl, Western Vikings claimed the honours and a spot in next week’s final with a 12-10 win over Emerging Nomads.

Barry Irving and Daryl Richards both scored tries for Vikings with Gary Stephenson’s conversion making up their total.

Nomads replied with two tries from Nick Cain but, crucially, they missed both conversions
