Increases unavoidable - Crowe

by isleofman.com 9th April 2008
The price of sending a local letter increased by two pence today.

Rates for Special Delivery, Airmail, International Surface Mail and ancillary services, including business reply and freepost, are also up.

However, the cost of posting a letter to the United Kingdom remains at 31p and Airsure and 'International signed for' prices are unchanged.

Isle of Man Post Chairman Pamela Crowe (Pam Crowe) says the increases are regrettable but unavoidable, stressing the overall rise is below inflation and that 45 per cent of postal charges are unchanged.

Sending local Christmas cards and letters between December 1 and the advertised last day of posting, will cost two pence less than the rest of the year.
