?3.5 million to refurbish pier - claim

by isleofman.com 1st April 2008
A leading campaigner for the restoration of Ramsey's Queen's Pier believes it could be re-opened as a major tourist attraction for as little as ?3.5 million.

Michael Tramontana describes the figure as 'peanuts' for the facility the whole Island would gain, and says it would provide a major boost for Ramsey and the north.

He claims previous estimates for the cost of refurbishment were much higher, to discourage anything being done (audio file attached):

Mr Tramontana expects Tynwald to make a decision on the future of the pier in June.
