Island needs migrant workers - Cretney

The value of migrant workers to the Isle of Man's economy is being defended in the light of a House of Lords report which claims immigration has done little for Britain.

Trade and Industry Minister David Cretney says the Island has always had immigrant workers, the difference now is that they come from further afield.

In the United Kingdom there are calls for a limit to be imposed on the number of people who can go to work there.

Mr Cretney (pictured) says the Manx work permit system is currently under review to test its effectiveness, but as things stand the Island would suffer without immigration:
