An eventful month for weather

by isleofman.com 2nd April 2008
Last month was very eventful in terms of weather.

There were floods and storms and deep depressions.

Beth Espey has the details (text, below, from attached audio file):

March once again saw temperatures that were slightly higher than normal, with an average of 9.5 Celsius.

There was less rain than might be expected for the time of year, with a total of 52mm recorded at the Met Office, compared with an average of 66.

But when it came to wind, speeds were above normal and there were three days with gales.

The worst day was March 10, when a deep depression passed over the Irish sea bringing South East gales ahead of it. The result was a lot of fallen trees and debris on the road.

There were also three days with hail and sleet, so the only conditions missing were fog and thunder.
