Jailed for motoring offences

by isleofman.com 3rd April 2008
A 28 year-old Douglas man has been jailed for four months after admitting a number of driving offences.

Andrew Caley pleaded guilty to drink driving, taking a vehicle without consent, driving it in a dangerous condition and without insurance.

Evidence showed he drove his employer's van to Peel to see his girlfriend who was distressed, and thought he was okay to drive despite drinking earlier in the day.

He was stopped by Police on the way because of a broken rear light and was found to have a blood-alcohol level of 190, more than twice the legal limit.

High Bailiff Michael Moyle jailed Caley for two months and activated a four month suspended sentence, imposed in December. They will run concurrently.

He was also banned from driving for 30 months.
