Minister disappointed by response

The Minister for Local Government is disappointed with the candidate turnout for the upcoming local authority elections.

John Shimmin says it'd be nice to think there was a greater level of interest, especially as his department had promoted the elections extensively.

Only six of the Island's 24 authorities are hosting a contest and six others haven't attracted enough candidates to fill all their seats.

Mr Shimmin (pictured) feels it could be time to make becoming a commissioner a more attractive proposition:
