Olympians alerted to Tibet issues

The Isle of Man’s Amnesty International group says Manx athletes hoping for Olympic glory in China should be aware of the country’s human rights record.

Recent protests have highlighted human rights abuses in Tibet, which is occupied by Chinese forces.

But Amnesty says it wouldn’t necessarily want athletes to boycott the games, as some in the UK have suggested.

Stuart Hartill of the Island’s group says it is important for competitors to know about the host country before they set off:
