Millions owed in tax

by isleofman.com 9th April 2008
Treasury Minister Allan Bell says the Manx Government is owed a total of almost ?18 million in unpaid VAT, and income and corporate tax.

He revealed the figure in the House of Keys this week in response to a question from Rushen MHK Juan Watterson.

Mr Watterson wanted to know how much was outstanding and what the government was doing to pursue the debts.

Mr Bell (pictured) said enforcement procedures were in place to tackle the problem and the debts would only be written off as a last resort, if all other measures failed.
